Hi, my name is Valentina Culley-Foster - I'm a freelance photographer. I grew up in Virginia in the US as well as the scenic Rhein Valley in Germany and studied in London at the University of the Arts (London College of Communications) and achieved my BA Honours in Photographic Arts at the University of Westminster (London). I moved to Derry in Northern Ireland as well as Brussels to pursue projects and now live and work in Berlin.
I accept commissions for portraiture, urban landscape, product, events and fashion photography. Over the last few years I have also shot behind the scenes on set of short films and music videos in London as well as Berlin.
My personal work is conceptual documentary based, visualising ideas surrounding contemporary cultural debate and the resulting imagery explores divided and conflicted spaces that affect national and global identity. My larger series document vanishing cultural division as well as the change in geographical landscape without militarised borders in both Berlin and Northern Ireland.
Being Irish, German as well as American I feel drawn to revisiting the countries that shape my own identity. My work has been exhibited in galleries in London, Berlin, Belfast and Derry.
Thanks for visiting my site and please feel free to get in touch regarding projects or collaborations.
My first solo show in Germany 'Borderlands' is currently showing at the Irish Embassy in Berlin. All infos here:
